What’s The Deal With Oestrogen?

Oestrogen is an important female hormone that plays a supportive role in a number different ways. When our oestrogen/progesterone ratio is out of balance is when problems start to arise. When we see an imbalance in oestrogen and progesterone levels, we commonly see an excess of oestrogen.

Signs of oestrogen excess:
〰️ PMS
〰️ heavy, painful periods
〰️ acne
〰️ breast tenderness
〰️ bloating and fluid retention
〰️ menstrual migraines/headaches

To support healthy oestrogen levels:
〰️ consume cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale and Brussel sprouts to assist excretion of excess oestrogen
〰️ avoid endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in household products, personal products, plastic tupperware and water bottles
〰️ reduce alcohol and caffeine intake to support liver detoxification
〰️ consume a diverse intake of plant foods and ensure adequate fibre intake to support your gut microbiome
